Background
The Risk Management Unit supports the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia through the development and implementation of a risk management regime for the United Nations Country Team (UNCT – Somalia).
The Support Officer is responsible for assisting the Risk Management Officer in implementing the risk management regime with the UNCT – Somalia agencies, funds and programmes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Risk Management Officer, in collaboration with the Risk Management Unit - Information Analyst and Resident Coordinators Office, the Support Officer will have the following responsibilities:
- Support the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia, Risk Management Unit, UNCT – Somalia as well as partners and donors through the development and maintenance of the Contractor Information Management System (CIMS);
- Identification of technical solutions to enhance the CIMS to ensure it meets the evolving needs of the Risk Management Unit and the UNCT – Somalia;
- Quality Relationship Management with key internal and external stakeholders. This includes working with Risk Focal Points, UNON ICTS, UNCT - Somalia, partners and donors to ensure the population of the CIMS, and the integrity of the data within CIMS;
- Provision of environmental scanning to support risk assessments. This includes maintenance and development of a risk register for the UNCT – Somalia;
- Administrative support to the Risk Management Unit.

Education/Experience, Language
- Diploma or University degree preferably in Information Sciences, computer sciences or engineering is required;
- 5 years of progressively responsible, job related experience in working in the field of information technology and/or database management, preferably in an international environment;
- Experience in application development; demonstrated experience in Drupal, PHP, MySQL, C++ as well as database design/development;
- Knowledge - of database design/development, project management, as well as business planning and financial analysis/reporting;
- Experience - in problem solving in a fast paced environment adopting a flexible and proactive approach and the ability to identify solution based outcomes;
- Risk Management – the ability to identify and manage risks at an operational level and identify and communicate in a timely manner, any risk management issues;
- Stakeholder Collaboration – a proven track record of building and sustaining a range of strong relationships and providing high quality service delivery;
- Teamwork – an ability to foster a spirit of cooperation and collaboration across the Risk Management Unit, Resident Coordinators Office and the UNCT – Somalia; and
- The candidate must be thoroughly proficient in written and spoken English.
