Kenya Jobs: Project Officer- Water & Sanitation – Karamoja Cluster, based in Lodwar
Reporting to the Area Coordinator based in Lodwar, the successful candidate will be in charge of implementing a newly funded EC programme for Turkana covering water and sanitation and will work closely with counterparts from co-implementing agencies. S/he will also be responsible for developing Practical Action’s WASH portfolio in the cluster.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the implementation of WASH programme within the cluster in compliance with donor requirements
- Champion the development of water and sanitation programme within the cluster in line with Practical Action’s strategy
- Take lead in developing and ensuring adherence to activity plans and other operational tools; and monitoring
- Responsible for effective delivery of project activities to time and budget
- Responsible for the production of time project reports (ensuring quality)
- Develop and manage partnerships within the water subsector in Karamoja
- Ensure effective representation of Practical Action in relevant forums and boards within the cluster
- Take lead in project learning and documentation
- Develop concept notes based on project learning for further programme development
Qualifications, skills and competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Water and Environmental Engineering/Science or related development discipline
- Post graduate diploma in Project Management, Community Development or related field
- Minimum three years working experience in development work
- Good understanding of policy context and ability to think critically
- Good interpersonal and public relation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to customize water and sanitation facilities to community needs
- Excellent analytical skills (research and writing)
